Man I love these smaller airports (I’m at RDU right now). No long lines, everybody is friendly even the TSA workers. If air travel was this easy most of the time I wouldn’t dread it so much. So I’m leaving Cary now, I didn’t get a chance to go into Raleigh or Durham. I planned to but I just didn’t have enough time. Oh well, back to Atlanta.

I mentioned in my audio post that I bought a ticket for my Flordia trip but it was for the wrong month. Since it was through Hotwire I’m screwed. I’ll have to eat it this time, it could’ve been worse though. (Isn’t that funny how that works, if I spent twice as much money on the ticket I would probably still say “it could’ve been worse”) I’m heading to Tampa next week to visit my friends the Dalys. That should be a lot of fun, I haven’t seen them for a while. I have tickets to see Deborah Coleman while I’m down there. I’ve seen her twice already and she is awesome! I’ll put it this way, one of the times I saw her she was playing in Conyers, GA (link not working right now). Let’s just say there are a lot of Confederate Battle flags out there (Deborah is black) and they couldn’t get enough of her. It always nice to see music break the color barrier that is still all to prevalent in today’s society. I didn’t take any pictures here in Cary but I’ll definitely have some from Tampa.

Well I’m sitting at the airport again. This time I’m going Cary NC (near Raleigh/Duram) for a couple of days. One of my job responsibilities is parts ordering for the Southeast. I don’t want to do it anymore so I am going to train someone to take my place. I don’t think I’ve ever been to Raleigh, maybe once as a kid but if I did I don’t remember it. Unfortunately I’ll be working so I won’t get to see much. I do plan on going to a couple of bars though.

So last night I saw a couple of Independent films that were part of the Atlanta Underground Film Festival. The first was “The Fourth World War” which was also best picture of the festival. It was about struggles of the common people against the establishment in different parts of the world. It was very inspiring, definitely a power to the people flick. One thing I noticed from the marches were the different styles of demonstrating. The Argentines and South Africans would sing and play instruments instead of just chanting. I though it made the demonstrations more impactful. I would also imagine it also enthuses the marchers, making a potentially dangerous and frightening experience more enjoyable. I saw it with a friend of mine and my roommate who leans to the conservative side of the spectrum. He thought it was very one sided, which it was but I countered with “what we normal see in the media is the other side so it’s nice to see the other point of view from time to time”. My other friend also made a good point, sometimes you need to show things with emotion or bias to get people to react. Showing a balanced point of view might not be as effective, just ask Fox News (see below). If you have a chance to see it check it out.

They also showed a surprise screening of “Out Foxed”, a documentary of the Fox News network. This one really got my blood boiling. As everyone knows (except conservative talk show listeners) Fox is basically a propaganda arm of the republican party. This documentary laid out some hard facts to back that assertion up. Some of the best tidbits are something like 33% of Fox News watchers thought Weapons of Mass Destruction have been found in Iraq as opposed to 5% of NPR/PBS viewers. Fox executive management issues talking points to their stations/anchors basically telling them what to and not to “report”. One of the funny moments of the film is a clip of Bill O’Reilly saying he has only told a guest to shut up once which was followed by clips of him telling people to shut up numerous times on and off his show (that sequence is downloadable here). O’Reilly is such an asshole, I would love to give him a good ass kicking. Then again I kind of feel sorry for him, such a hateful and spiteful person must really be unhappy with his life. You should definitely checkout this film, if it’s not playing anywhere near you you can order it for $9.95 from here or here.

Ok that’s enough ranting for now.

Fair and Balanced my ass
