Go to work all you sheep
Don’t step out of line boys and girls, eyes front and hands to yourself you keep
Never question your superiors, we know what’s best for you
Do what your told and like it, doesn’t matter if it’s not true
Not to worry, all will be taken care of
Have your meetings, think your important, buy that new love
None of it matters but that’s ok
You’ll feel better in your SUV anyway

What is up with you anyway? When you get married and have three or four kids, you try cramming them all into your small little environmentally friendly car. Oh and forget cramming the dog into the car with all the kids on family outings. What about uncomfortable road trips with all the kids and the dog? I think you got my point. There is a need for such large vehicles. We the families need the room. As a single person, you could not understand. Sure when I was a kid we didn’t have a SUV we had a simulated wood grain station wagon (the SUV of the 70’s)and even some hippy types had custom vans to tote their families around. Now, today, in the year 2004 we have SUV’s that make toting our families around easy and stylish at the same time. It sounds like we have made some progress on that front. It might be possible for the car manufacturers to make SUV’s that are large and better on gas. Will they? I doubt it. However, until they do, people are going to continue to buy large SUV’s to make their lives more comfortable. After all, we might not be here tomorrow. Wasn’t fun cramming into my little two door sports car?

It seems to me that Lori (yes this is directed towards Lori) plays a part in the average stereotypical american family. Sorry to tell you this, but maybe why people don’t buy an SUV for their family is so that they can have more food. Think about it. I rather have a full stomach than a big car. If you are going to a roadtrip with the kids that is a sign that you are spoiling your children. Next thing you know, the kids wont be able to take a shit without you standing outside the door or worse, inside holding their hands. Next time you feel like dissing someone out cause you have no free time (I realize thats what I’m doing right now, but dont you have a family to take care of?), think about what your saying about yourself.

Sara G… I read your post and I am not sure it makes all that much sense…I do not have an SUV so I do not play a part in the average stereotypical american family. I was just standing up for the “Families” because as a single person “Alex” does not really understand the needs of a “Family” and I was trying to set him straight in that regard.
SUV’s are super expensive and so is the gas. That is why I don’t have one.
This is where you lost me:
“If you are going to a roadtrip with the kids that is a sign that you are spoiling your children. Next thing you know, the kids wont be able to take a shit without you standing outside the door or worse, inside holding their hands.”
Taking your children on a roadtrip is a sign spoiling them??? Perhaps you didn’t get out much as a child? How is a roadtrip going to spoil them. What about a trip to the Bahamas? And I love to hold my son’s hand while he poops. It makes him feel safe.
BTW, I wasn’t dissing Alex. I was lending my point of view. Alex welcomes and enjoys a healthy debate about topics. Why do you think Alex puts his view points out there for everyone to read? Do you think he does it so that his words can be the final and almighty word? Your comment about nothing better to do with my free time; why are you on his site reading? Why are you replying to my post? I guess you have nothing better to do with your free time. You can take that a step further and say that anyone that uses the internet to share thoughts, ideas or view points really has nothing else better to do or has it just become our new time occupying medium. So, yes, I have plenty of things to do with my free time, it just so happens that I enjoy reading Alex’s site and posting comments and obviously you do too.
And with regarding to taking care of my family… I am doing a fine job of that - thanks!
