The Hot Rod of Beers
In my neighborhood (East Atlanta) along with trucker hats PBR is definitely hot. I decided to do a Google search to see how widespread the trend is and it’s apparently nationwide. Here are two articles and a blog entry I found:

I went to the Pabst Brewing Company website to look up their stock symbol but apparently they are a privately owned company. Too bad, I bet it would be a money maker right now. At least until the trend ends. incidentally I discovered that Lucky Lager is real beer. I always thought it was made up for my favorite line in Kalifornia when Brad Pitt says “This ain’t Lucky Lager!” right before he busts a beer bottle on someone’s head.
I can’t bring myself to drink PBR, no matter how cool I will appear to be. I’m kind of a beer snob, ok I am a beer snob. I’m not knocking anyone who drinks it, to each his own, it’s just not for me. Come to think of it I can’t remember if I’ve ever tried it. I’m pretty sure I have, just can’t remember. So I guess I’ll try one just to (re)experience it.
While I’m on the subject of beer, here’s a quick little story. I used to work for a company that was taken over by the now defunct (part of CA) Sterling Software. They flew the managers out to Plano Texas (just outside of Dallas) to meet with Sterling’s executives. One day after meetings the managers from my company went to one of the local bars. One of the managers ordered a Bass but was told they were out. Later on when the CEO of Sterling (Sterling Williams) showed up the same bartender immediately grabbed a Bass and said “Here you go Mr. Williams.” as he handed him the beer. Must be nice to have power.
On a side note as I’ve been writing this Winamp has been randomizing my MP3s. I must say I have quite a nice music selection and only a small portion of my CDs are ripped. I usually listen to full albums or particular songs but they random playlist is working quite well tonight.
