I received this quote from an email list that I subscribe to. So true….

“Other than telling us how to live, think, marry, pray, vote, invest,
educate our children and, now, die, I think the Republicans have done a
fine job of getting government out of our personal lives.”

-Editorial Page, Sunday, June 19, 2005 Portland Oregonian

Actually the title should be “Sensible Politician?”, I just wanted to get a dig in. A few weeks ago I was listening to the Commonwealth Club’s radio broadcast. The speaker for this particular show was Christine Todd Whitman. Normally I would have switched the channel but since I was in Alabama (don’t ask) my only other choices were country and religious stations. What I heard completely shocked me. She had very valid viewpoints and (gasp) I was actually agreeing with what she was saying. To paraphrase she thinks the Republican Party has been hijacked by “Social Fundamentalists” and only represent a small percentage of conservatives out there. I won’t recount the whole speech but I recommend hearing it for yourself.
