Finished my second event poster recently. I can’t wait for the event, should be awesome.

I just finished my first event poster. Of course I’m a photographer not a graphic artist but I do know how to use Photoshop. This was a rush job and pro bono so considering those factors I think I did a decent job.

Art openings at Roq La Rue and BLVD, The Hands at the Croc and pinball at Shorty’s. Maybe last call at The Hat. Should be fun…

Friday night I went to see a lecture by Jonas Bendiksen at PCNW. I hadn’t heard of him before but I knew he was a Magnum photographer so I knew he must be good. I have to say I was very impressed. Not only were his photos excellent, he was a great speaker and his slide show was very entertaining. He also had immense knowledge of his subjects the people of the former Soviet republics. To top it all off he is only twenty-eight years old, which depressed me a bit, especially because I’m going to be thirty next month. It also inspired me as well because what he accomplished. On Saturday my girlfriend and I went to the Asian Cultural Experience at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. We had a great time although we spent most of it looking at Niki’s pieces. I put some shots up on Flickr, you can view the here: Niki in the Garden.

Yes I’m a deviant. I stumbled across deviantART last week and was immediately hooked. It’s basically a website where people post all kinds of art. Photos, paintings, drawings, poetry you name it. And there are tons of them, and I mean tons. As of this writing 7,833,558.

I have decided to drop my photoblog (if you noticed the link is missing now) in favor of deviantART. I think it’s a much more balanced site. I will probably keep my photoblog account open in case I get a camera phone. Then I will use it for moblogging but as of right now I won’t be updating it.

A word of warning, deviantART is extremely addictive so use with caution.
