Last night I was punched in the gut, pinched, bitten, cut my finger, got a bloodstain on one of my favorite shirts and was almost pushed out of a booth. I also had a great steak.

I saw some of the best concerts of my life last week. I’m still riding high from them. On Tuesday I saw Toots and The Maytals. This was my second time seeing a show at Earthlink Live and I like the venue. Not as good as the Tabernacle but a decent place. The show was great and since it was reggae there were no drunk rednecks and everyone in the crowd was cool. Thursday I saw Deborah Coleman at Jake’s Toadhouse. This is the fourth time I have seen her and she hasn’t disappointed me yet. If you are into Blues Rock you owe it to yourself to check her out when you have a chance. Saturday I saw Buddy Guy for the first time. That show kicked ass! It’s definitely in my top ten of all time. I know I’ll be seeing him again every chance I get. My life was threatened by a drunk biker on roids at the show. That was pretty funny, weird stuff happens to me a lot but that was a first. In fact that whole night was a Twilight Zone experience. Strange stuff happened at willcall and with two parking attendants. I also got to see a jam session at a party that night, which also kicked ass. The best show of them all was the private concert I had on Sunday. Not telling you any details though.

I was at The EARL last Saturday and some guy asked me for a cigarette after picking up my pack and smelling it. He must have picked up on the “eat shit and die” look I gave him because he offered me a dollar for one. Which is a pretty good return on my investment, so I obliged his request.

I’m such a dick sometimes. No I’m not going to elaborate on that.

I blew out a tire, got ink on someone’s pants and stood up some friends. Other than those events it was a pretty good weekend.

Update: I also forgot to call a good friend on his birthday. Sorry Eddie!

A friend just called me with an extra ticket to the Falcons playoff game tonight. Thanks Matt!!!!!

So I went to The EARL Tuesday night. I had dinner with some friends earlier that evening and prior to dinner I had a beer so I had a taste for it. I told myself one beer only which turned into two which turned into three but I did stop myself then. As I was paying my tab close to midnight two of the bartenders asked where I was going, assuming I was going to see a concert or another bar since I was leaving so early. As is obvious from my previous posts I know I need to stop hanging out so much but that conversation really hit home. Basically people confirming my suspicions.

On a side note one of the bartenders wouldn’t let me see the mini bat behind the bar, granted that was probably a good move on his part. He said I’m banned from all weapons, anything pointy, anything edible and something else that I can’t remember now.

I finished picking out my January shows today. The list is located on the right side if the page. See, I am slowing down and luckily most are spread out which will make things easier. Now the trick will be to see if I can keep to the schedule and not over do it.

After running a report in Quicken I was enlightened to the fact that I’ve spent $917.75 at The EARL in November and December (not including upcoming New Year’s Eve). This total is plastic only, I’ve also spent lots of cash there and at other bars and concerts. To me this is a lot of money, especially when the only return is a temporary good time. Obviously I need to slow things down a bit. To meet that end I went out and purchased World of Warcraft and Half Life 2. WoW is my first MMORPG, I have resisted them for a long time because I don’t like the fact you have to pay a monthly fee in addition to the initial game price. However some coworkers made the point that is much less than going out every night (which has turned out to be true). I still was hesitant on principal (what principal that is I couldn’t tell you) but finally broke down. I’m glad I did, however it’s a double-edged sword. I haven’t been going out very much but I’ve been spending way too much time playing the game. This is why my blog has been stagnating lately and I’m putting off unenjoyable but necessary tasks like laundry and doing the dishes. I have even been skipping (gasp!) football. Granted the Falcons already have the division wrapped up and a first round bye, so it doesn’t matter. Still I’m still missing it, which is surprising me. In case your wondering, no I will not miss the playoffs (I haven’t completely lost my mind in the depths of geekiness). Anyway it’s an excellent game and I’m a Tarun Shaman (Alavar) on the Stormreaver PvP server. As for Half-Life 2 all I can say is WOW! This game rocks, unfortunately I loaded WoW first and got hooked on it so I haven’t played much of it but from what I’ve seen it is excellent. The graphics are outstanding, the faces are extremely realistic, actually a little eerie. Even more so since one of the characters looks familiar to me. If you’re into FPS games, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
