Practicing Voodoo

Sunday, October 17th, 2004

I’m in New Orleans right now for the Voodoo Music Experience. I haven’t had any time to write except for these two Haikus. So here you go.

New Orleans

street sweats alcohol
flesh and beads intermingle
the crescent city

Baton Rouge

suburbia calls
quiet stars burning the night
soft grass under foot

Sunday night in the Village

Monday, October 11th, 2004

coffee spurting car
standing, waiting, bus will come
smell the cheese melting

see blasting red rum
ATM silently waits
bodies behind bars

despondent

my loneliness sits
the sun is gone - moon out
wishing normalcy

Grind

Friday, October 8th, 2004

Go to work all you sheep
Don’t step out of line boys and girls, eyes front and hands to yourself you keep
Never question your superiors, we know what’s best for you
Do what your told and like it, doesn’t matter if it’s not true
Not to worry, all will be taken care of
Have your meetings, think your important, buy that new love
None of it matters but that’s ok
You’ll feel better in your SUV anyway
