Drunken Haiku

On election night while I was at the EARL watching all the states go red on CNN. To combat my depression of the impending outcome, I decided to practice the ancient Japanese art of Drunken Haiku. This is what I came up with, I have more but they seemed to get progessively worse…

The EARL
PBR is king
cymball monkeys grace the screen
the reliable

Election
red & blue battle
smirking face on the tube
please don’t let it be

EARL 2
dancing pabst & smoke
Mr. T watches over
chain barriers hold

Lust
poor joke goes badly
chance gone from stupidity
lonely night again

Election 2
rain falls constantly
opinions flail wildly
outcome uncertain

Mood
violence infects me
tearing at the ethical soul
part of my being

Election 3
the stressful waiting
country’s future on the line
eternal waiting
