I just had a kick ass weekend. It started off Friday night, I actually didn’t have any plans so I was sitting around the house but I got bored. I hopped online to see what was happening. My search turned up a band called Entropy that was playing at the Apache Cafe. Their MP3s sounded good and off I went. Man am I glad I did, these guys rock, they play a mix of Jazz+Funk, Hip Hop and Reggae. I was so impressed I picked up a copy of their CD. They even played a cover of “Let me Ride” from the Chronic, very cool! On a side note, the vegetarian lasagna at the Apache is very good.

Ori was playing after Entropy but I wasn’t into it so we (roommate and I) decided to leave. We stopped off at the EARL which turned out to be a very good move. I ended up meeting a very cool member of the opposite sex, she’s an artist, writer, photographer and all around cool person. We ended up closing the EARL at 3am (thank you Atlanta City Council said facetiously) I was so wired (naturally) though, I couldn’t get to sleep until five something.

The next day was the 8th Annual East Atlanta Strut. I wanted to get up early to catch the race and parade but it wasn’t meant to be. I finally showed up around twelve something. The turn out was very good this year, lots of booths and music. Some of my OTP friends even showed up and they never come down to East Atlanta. Derrick Spivey had a killer setup. He is a metal sculptor and his work is extremely impressive. He had numerous pieces there and all of them were cool. He creates his work from scratch as opposed to scrap metal and uses a lot of paint. Even if you don’t like metal work you’ll probably like his stuff. I snapped a bunch of pics, (mostly abstract) they’ll be in the gallery when I get it back up. I also saw some bands during the strut, the most impressive of which was Twelfth Planet. I’m not going to even attempt to describe them, all I can say is go see them if you have a chance. After listening to some really bad karaoke at Mary’s I went over to the EARL. While I was there a girl started hitting on me. I wasn’t interested but I was flattered nonetheless. I had to call it quits sometime between twelve and one. I was definitely done for, from too much drinking and from being out in the sun all day.

To cap the weekend off I went to see the Falcons trounce the Rams at the Falcons home opener. 34-17 man that was a good game! There were some Rams fans sitting near us so we heckled back and forth throughout the game, it was a lot of fun. It looks like we’re back on track, hopefully things will hold up.

The only think that marred the weekend was me forgetting to call my dad on his birthday, I’m blaming it on the beer. ;) That’s two great weekends in a row (was in Tampa last weekend, still need to write about it). I’m going to Iowa on Friday, hopefully I can keep the streak going.
