    Yes, I’ve only heard a little bit about it. I’m going to check out the article on Nature magazine. I was going to send you the headline from the AJC: “Fodo Lived! (At least sort of)”

    18,000 to 13,000 years ago is quite recent. It’s thought that the Americas were populated by anatomically modern humans (ancestors of the Native Americans) from Siberia at least 30,000 years ago. So there’s a lot of overlap in time with this species and us. They could do mtDNA studies on the bone of this species, to get an estimate of how genetically divergent they are from us. That would be cool.
